Yelapa from Canada: direct flights to Puerto Vallarta, then the boat

Yelapa has no airport and no road, so Canadians fly nonstop to Puerto Vallarta (PVR), then finish the trip by boat. This winter more Canadian cities have direct flights to Puerto Vallarta than last year, which makes a Yelapa vacation rental an easy escape from the cold.

Nonstop flights from Canada this winter

These are the routes the airlines announced for winter 2026-27, as of October 21, 2026. Schedules change, so confirm on the airline's site before you book.

  • Toronto: Porter flies daily this winter, up from five a week (Porter, April 30, 2026).
  • Edmonton: Porter starts a new route on November 3, 2026, three times a week, and Flair flies two to three times a week (AeroRoutes, May 21, 2026).
  • Calgary: Flair flies up to three times a week in peak weeks, Air Canada Rouge returns on December 10, 2026, twice a week (AeroRoutes, October 14, 2026), and WestJet runs Dreamliner flights on select dates (WestJet, August 17, 2026).
  • Vancouver: Flair goes to nine flights a week from February 16, 2027.
  • Saskatoon: WestJet flies up to five times a week in peak weeks.
  • Winnipeg: WestJet adds weekly flights this winter.

WestJet and Air Canada fly from more Canadian cities than this list, often with one stop, so search from your home airport too.

From the airport to Yelapa

From PVR, take a taxi to the Los Muertos pier in town or to Boca de Tomatlán south of town, then a water taxi to Yelapa. The boat guide covers both piers, times, and luggage, and go2yelapa transport lists the boats. Boats run in daylight, so pick a flight that lands early enough to reach the pier in the afternoon. Our host family meets you at the Yelapa pier and helps with bags; the getting to Casa Gratitud post has the last steps.

Before you go

  • Travel advice: Canada's advice for Mexico is to exercise a high degree of caution. For Jalisco, it advises against non-essential travel only within 50 km of the Michoacán border, far inland from the coast (travel.gc.ca, updated October 19, 2026). Check it again before you fly.
  • Cash: Yelapa runs on pesos. Use an ATM in Puerto Vallarta before you get on the boat.
  • Phone: Turn on Wi-Fi calling before you leave so your Canadian number works over the house internet (how to set it up).

Staying a month or the winter
