Yelapa & Puerto Vallarta Events: A Guest Guide
Casa Gratitud is a quiet elevated villa above Yelapa, not a festival hotel on the sand. Even so, village events and big Puerto Vallarta weekends can shape boat demand, pier energy, and whether a first night feels calm or buzzing. Dates and venues change, so confirm any event directly before booking flights.
Casa Gratitud is typically open October through April. Some major Yelapa dates fall outside that window, but they are useful context for anyone building a wider itinerary.
THE GATHERING: YELAPA, NOVEMBER 20–22, 2026
A multi-day music gathering has been listed for beaches and jungle venues. Expect additional boat demand, fuller pangas, and late music near village venues. Casa is up the private path, so it is generally quieter than beach-level venues, but pier crowds and village buzz still matter. If you are attending, arrive early and confirm the lineup with the organizer.
DIA DE LA MARINA, JUNE 1
Mexican Navy Day brings decorated pangas, water taxis, beach music, food, and a maritime tribute. It is often one of the busiest boat days of the year. June is outside Casa Gratitud’s open season, but year-round planners should know the date.
RECURRING YELAPA DATES
Yelapa Cacao Fiesta is typically held in mid-March, with the next edition to be confirmed. Día de Muertos in Yelapa is typically observed around November 1–2 with community gatherings and extra foot traffic. The Gathering may return in late November. Treat all future dates as watch-the-listing information, not locked calendar facts.
PUERTO VALLARTA EVENTS
Guests who overnight in Puerto Vallarta before the crossing should allow extra time for downtown and pier access during Día de Muertos, usually late October to early November, and Fiestas Guadalupanas from December 1–12. Processions, music, road closures, and dense foot traffic can make a taxi to Los Muertos or the Marina slower.
Other city events such as food festivals, fishing tournaments, performances, and races mostly affect hotel zones, the Malecón, or the marina rather than the Yelapa stair path. Check current listings for the year you travel.
WHALE SEASON AS A BAY WINDOW
Licensed whale-watching in Banderas Bay is typically framed from December 8 through March 23, with January and February often the peak. That is bay activity, not village stage noise. Guests may spot whales from the water taxi and villa terraces, and the hosting family can arrange in-season trips on their boats. See our whale-season guide for the honest terrace-versus-boat framing.
PLANNING TIPS
Book boats and transfers early for event weekends. Message the hosting family about the Café Bahia pier meet. Prefer daylight arrivals because the beach walk and private stairs are easier in good light. Bring cash for water taxis, tips, and small purchases. Confirm current private-boat arrangements with the hosts rather than relying on old figures. Casa is elevated in the jungle, reached by a beach walk and private cemented stairs; it is not beachfront.
Schedules, venues, and programs change. When in doubt, ask the organizer and then ask Felipe how the pier usually feels that weekend.
