Casa Gratitude:

Yelapa is still a very remote area, which adds to the magic and why you are likely visiting.  But with that, there are a few things to keep in mind.  The home is equipped with two internet providers in the event one should temporarily go down and when WIFI Calling is enabled on your phone, you should be able to have good phone connectivity.  It is also equipped with a generator in the event the electricity goes out (the host family will handle this for you if needed).  The entire state of Jalisco is extremely safe and Yelapa takes it to another level with literally no crime…most people never lock their doors, but the home does have a safe to store your valuables and the home can be locked securely.  The home is nestled high in the jungle which gives it the total privacy and amazing mountain and ocean views…there are cemented private stairs through the jungle to walk to the home from the beach which only take 5 minutes.  The walk along the beach from the village to the private stairs is about 10 minutes.

Casa Accommodations:

The home owners have multiple highly rated vacation rentals in Mexico and the United States so you can expect a fully stocked kitchen, clean linens, beautiful decor, beautiful gardens, and first class service & communication.  The casa is 3 floors with amazing views from every level, especially the massive patio on the main floor with outdoor dining.  The top floor has a large master bedroom & bathroom with king size bed, private patio, Smart TV, Sofa, and overflow sleeping.  The lower bedroom has king size bed with private bathroom and patio.  The home can comfortably sleep 6 people and can expand with rollaway beds to accommodate 8 people.  The home is also pet friendly with a dog run area, keeping them safe from exploring the jungle on their own.  Please note, the home is not ideal for very small children as the walk along the beach, while beautiful, is not level.

Hosting Family:

The local family that will host you are one of the original inhabiting families of Yelapa.  They have hosted many families through the years for other Yelapa rentals.  Prior to your stay, we will introduce you to them via WhatsApp which is the main form of texting used in Mexico.  They will meet you upon your arrival and are there to make your stay amazing…offering transportation to/from Yelapa, cleaning if an extended stay, laundry and cooking, and excursions such as snorkeling, exploring, fishing, whale watching, hiking, etc.  They can also arrange for some basic food/drink items to be at the home upon your arrival.

Transportation:

The address you can use on your immigration documents is:  Casa Gratitud in the city of Yelapa and the state of Jalisco.  Yelapa is only reachable by boat, ideally during the day as the water can be rough at night.  Your hosting family can meet you at the airport, the marina near the airport or at the town of Boca, just past Puerto Vallarta, to bring you from Puerto Vallarta to Yelapa on a private boat for a fee (See note below).  Another option is to take an auto taxi or uber to Los Muertos pier in Puerto Vallarta then catch the water taxi to Yelapa.  You can also take an auto taxi or uber to Boca then catch the water taxi to Yelapa…Boca offers more and later departure times.  The water taxi schedule and pricing can be found here and is very economical https://www.yelapa.info/transportationnf1.html.  It is best to plan your transportation to Yelapa well in advance of your arrival.  Upon arrival, you will want to exit the water taxi at the pier next to Café Bahia, which is to the far right of the Yelapa bay in front of the “downtown” area and typically the last Yelapa stop.  Note:  The fee for the private boat from the Marina to Yelapa is about $4,000 Pesos one way and just over an hour.  The fee for the private boat from Boca to Yelapa is about $2,000 Pesos one way.
